I am looking at a '56 F-350 with a flat bed. It has a PTO hook up from the tranny but it is not hooked up to the hoist. Can someone help me (with pics if possible) see how the PTO is hooked up to the hoist. It seems as if it is missing a small drive shaft type connection.
Also, there is not lever coming up through the floor of the cab. Would this need to be done to engage the hoist. Other trucks I had driven years ago or have seen in pics have 2 levers inthe cab. One to engage the PTO, one to raise and lower the bed. Is this the only way to do this?
Lot of PTOs were controled by cable. Most any shop that works on trash or dump trucks should tell you where to find parts. Most of these shafts are cut to length and a u joint bolts to the shaft.
