My 93' is on 37x12.5x16 and they don't stick out of the the fenders. Which would be great if they didn't rub on the front leaf springs what kind of offset am I looking for and what is too far? will it tear up suspension in the front?
I had 33x12.50x16.5 's on my truck before getting new rims/tires. The backspace was 4 3/4" with no rubbing issues. I think any where from 4 1/2 - 5" of back space should work. But I'm not sure about those taller tires. May need some spacers. Hope this helps.
I'm in the same boat with the same tire size on my 94. Offset wheels is the best solution, maybe 1 more inch than stock. Spacers are ok, but second to the new wheels. It wont harm the suspension any but your wheel bearings will wear out quicker. In extreme cases I've heard of them being replaced yearly. But I really dont think it will be that bad since 1" is not that much.
thanks that helps a lot I was looking at some 4 3/4" and that's what I think I will go with. I remeber hearing about wheel bearings. What size lift do you have on your 94? I want to go bigger and try a smoother ride. I'm debating on a solid front axle but don't know if it will be worth the work.
I already have a solid axle in the front so I installed the shackle reversal kit which give about 2 inches of lift. The rear is stock height. I had a 4" lift front and back but sold the lift because the ride was horrible and it did nothing positive for the truck.
I had the superlift softride and it was anything but soft. The springs were SO stiff it made the truck very uncomfortable to drive.
I hear ya about the crappy ride I think it would take a lot of suspension reworking to get a good ride but as long as it gets me over the rocks and through the mud.
