2003 expy install factory dvd

Any help appreciated.

I own a 2003 EB expy that came with everything but DVD entertainment system. So I purchased a factory ford expedition dvd from ebay. This did not come with wiring harness. Can someone tell me if the harness is already there from the factory. What i mean is when i bring it to an installer to put it in and he cuts the hole will there be a plug there. Worse case i could just run power to it and kids can use the wireless headphones? Just wanted to get ann idea b4 the guy cuts the hole to install it. Has any1 taken the roof down that could give me some info? thnx

This has been discussed before but I'm not sure if there was ever a definate answer. The general thinking is that the trucks roll off the assembly line pre-wired for just about everything, then the equipment is either installed or not depending on the trim level and such. I know in my truck the wiring harness for the CD changer and factory amp is under the dash, but I don't have the Audiophile system, so they are unused, and also, there is a wiring harness for a power passenger seat, but I don't have it, so it just resides under the carpet. I would be fairly confident that your truck, especially being an EB, would be pre-wired for the DVD.
If it turns out that there is no wiring harness, it should be fairly easy to run a power supply. I would suggest running it from the dash, under the carpet to one of the B-pillars, up under the plastic pliiar trim and pull it to the middle where the cutout for the DVD is. It will be easier to do this once the whole is cut, so I wouldn't worry about going ahead with the install. Just get a quote based on the possibility of needing some wiring done before they start so you don't get blindsided.

that was a quick response!! thank you very much. Hopefully that wire is there. Just plugging it in would be great. But if not I will just try to find the pin layout for the plug coming out of the dvd to find power. I dropped the front console today and stuck my hand as far as i could and couldnt feel anything. Probably gonna need mounting bracket also. Gonna go to ford dealer tomorrow to order. thnx again.
