are these timing marks???
in the middle there there's a notch on the thing behind the crankshaft pulley and two little wedge things on either side.
But the timing pointer is that small metal piece above the damper and the flat spot on the end of it is where you want the timing marks to line up with.
The damper should be marked in increments of degrees from 0-30 or so. Get under the front of the truck and clean the damper with a rag and some cleaner...then look for the marks you should be able to see them.
Once I saw the 10 degree mark and the 0 mark, I marked those with paint so I could see them easily and could time it.

But the wedge on the right is the Timing Pointer and the right straight edge is what you line up with the timing marks.
Make sure you pull out the SPOUT before you try to set the timing.
