XM is running a special right now for current subscribers. I can get the XM Delphi Roady XT Package for $39.99. My question is, I have a 2005 Super Crew that has the AUX button on the radio. If I go with the Roady XT can I buy the PIE adapter and hook it directly to my factory radio, and if so, will it sound better than the FM Modulated? I am guessing it would since I am not using an FM station. Also, what controls will my factory radio have over the Roady, I have heard volume only, but wanted to double check...Anyone have the part number for the PIE adapter or who I should buy it from? Thanks for any help that you can offer.
I would not buy a fm modulation, I had one and returned it. The problem is if you have it tuned on your local station, you will have to go to another station if you go outside of that area. you will be changing radio stations all the time. I just bought a new radio with Sirius. Kenwood EZ 900 HDS @ crutchfield.com. or go to your local car audio store and they should be able to install a XM tuner.
Just a few words about clarity. The booklet with the XM receiver and probably with any such receiver or IPOD etc. is the best sound will be if you have direct connection, 2nd best is a cassette adapter and the lowest sound quality is FM modulation. Anyone that I have ever known that uses a receiver/IPOD using the FM modulation is disappointed. Sound quality poor and if you travel you will have to constantly be looking for an FM part of the dial without a station. Don't do it.
I have an 03 XLT with the dual media player (Cassette and CD). I use the cassette adapter and I am very pleased. But no doubt even better sound could be had if you used the PIE -- assuming this is possible.
I have been told that as long as they Roady has an external output(headphone jack), that I will be able to hook it up to the PIE adapter. If that is the case then I can use my factory stereo, utilizing the AUX button. I just need to find out if anyone has tried this with the new Roady. I may have to make a trip to the local stereo shop and see if I can find out. But I do agree 100% that FM Modulation is not the way to go. If the Roady won't adapt to the PIE and then to my factory radio I will not be buying it....
Has any one seen a cable offered yet to plug into the factory audio system that will play my non-Ipod unit thru the receiver? The FM modulators are crappy.
it converts the CAN adapter to RCA ...from there you should be good to go, most things have RCA jacks, but if not , they make converters for RCA outputs as well.
