I have a complete hiboy F250 LWB (131 inch) rolling chassis with a complete drive train, just need a body. Could I put a crew cab on this rig if I had a short box? I guess the real question is what wheel base would a crew cab have? I love the look of the crew cabs on the hi boy chassis. Plus I can also claim it to be a family vehicle kind of thing. I'm sure the wife would think so.
If you can convince the WAR DEPARTMENT it's a family 4 door more power to ya. I would bet you'll have to fab and weld some brackets then cut down both ends of the bed, all in all a great sounding project and it'll look better than what's new out there.

Crew cab shortbed is 149", The crew cab is 34" longer than the regular cab. So puting the crew on a 131 frame ought to put the back of the cab about 4-5 inches in front of the rear wheels. That would leave about a 3 ft bed. Definately look different, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It would turn heads.
Long as it doesn't look ridiculous like the current Ranger/Exploder 4 door thing does, might be kind of cool
Might make more sense to try and find a supercab frame from the later seventies tho.
thats a neat idea. my dad wanted to put my 1970 crew cab onto a reg cab long bed frame but the spring hangers on the back axle were in the way so it wouldnt work. you could get a body lift and it would probably work though
