thanks for the help

hey, i just signed up on this but iv'e been reading the tech articles
for awhile.
i just put power steering on my 70 f100. a task made much simpler
by reading several really informative tech articles on the subject on
this site. i just installed a 351w with an aod transmission, getting
that flanged up, today it was trans crossmember and shifter linkage.
next will be driveline issues. any advise on that would be appreciated.
keep up the good work rq

Welcome to FTE!

I assume you are going to have your driveshaft shortened or replaced completely? My advice would be to have it taken to a good driveshaft shop. They can take all the measurements. Make sure they install greaseable U-joints. I don't like those 'permanently lubed' ones.
It would probably not be a bad idea to replace your suspension bushings.

the driveshaft is gonna need to be apx 3" shorter. is there an advantage to the two piece drive line? i may have a one piece in my goody pile that i could have modified.
i replaced the i-beams , steering linkage with stuff from a low mileage doner truck.replaced bushings same time.
power steering box, column came from same truck.
i replaced the seals in the gearbox. i guess we'll see how bad it's gonna spew fluid.

i understand the adjustment on the kickdown rod is critical for longevity, i installed an aod trans out of 80 lincoln mark.
i guess i'll be studying up on that
thanks for the input,rq

I think you'd be fine with a one piece shaft.
Have fun with your truck.
