AODE question

AODE question

Will the AODE mate up to a 351w? why is it referred to like Aode/4r70w?

What are you pulling the trans from? if it's a 302 motor then you need a different flywheel but yes it would bolt up. The AODE is an electronic controled AOD and it needs a computer to control the shifting where the AOD uses a detent cable.

The 4R70W grew out of the AODE. The 4R70W has a lower first gear and not as steep of an overdrive ratio. By 1996 the 4R70W completely replaced the AODE.

I have an e4od and it seems that this is a very expensive transmission that isnt compatible with most after market applications. Nobody sells parts for the E40d and they are too expensive to rebuild so im thinking of options to replace it with. I like the strength of the E40d but $$$ is not worth it. I see that the Aode/4r70w is a strong trans so I was thinking maybe about going to that one.
Its a 92 f-150 I just dont know what other transmissions I could put in that will be good choices.
