I'm planning on replacing the drums on my 69 F-250 Camper Special to discs. I have the opportunity to use the front end of a 79 F-250. I like this idea because the front end already has a heavy duty sway bar installed and the coil springs seem a little more heavy duty. The question I have is, even though the frame size is the same, can I switch across using the whole shebang--axles, springs, sway bar etc. ?I think the coil springs are a touch higher than my 69's. Would this really screw up the front end alignment permanently?
Any ideas.
Thanks
If it's got power steering and yours doesn't, grab that too!

When I did this swap it was pretty easy to cut the front coils with a cheap angle grinder. The driver and passenger side coils are different heights so line up the old coils with the new ones and cut away the extra.
Going from a 67 F100 front end to a 78 1 ton front end I appreciate the powersteering the most. The big dual cylinder power disks are very nice but the power steerng makes the truck much more enjoyable to drive.
The steering column wiring was the biggest head ache but there is a lot of great help on this board.
I used the complete front-end off a 77 F-100 on my 67 F-100. Worked great, I used the front brake lines and proportioning valve of the 77 also, so all I had to do was fab-up a rear line.
All good! I keep the original cast radius arms. I think they look nicer, the new stamped ones look cheezy to me. It always amazes me that these old Ford parts are so much the same. The 79 sway bar is a nice touch.
