Too loud and annoying. Go with the 70 series. They have decent sound, but you won't look like as much of an idiot as you drive through town with the loud "boy racer, hotrod wannabe, I'm not too bright" exhaust sound.

I've had a 70 series on my 02 since just a few months after I bought the truck and I've been very happy with it.

exhaust

If you want to have a diesel sound like a big block then go with a 4" MBRP xp series exhaust, if you want to have the turbo spool(sounds like a big jet) then add on the test pipe for cat replacement. I have an 04 6.0l and just put on this exhuast and turn heads everytime I leave a light. AWESOME sound and performance benefit

I agree with the above !
And don't be doing it thinking your going to increase fuel mpg's because it doesn't.

have to agree with the guys about the 40 series being too loud, and they create a resonance that is awful when the motor loads. I have had the 40 for a couple of years now, and it has a rust hole in the bottom, something else will be going back in,,,IMHO

NHman,

You don't have your truck listed in your signature, but if you do have a diesel the flowmaster will actually create back pressure and is NOT what you need for a diesel. You need straight thru with packing materials etc. Call us if you have any questions etc.

You do not mention what engine you have: 5.4L V10 6.0L

If you have the 5.4L then the FM40 or 50 works well. Nice V8 rumble.

If you have the V10 then the FM70 works well. The FM40 or 50 will probably not sound to good. The V10 does not sound like a V8 so you may not like what you hear. However, the BANKS system works really well on the V10...IMO.

FM 40 sounds great on my V10. Loud enough to know it's there but unnoticeable at highway speed. Single in, dual out the back with 3" Mangnaflow Slash stainless tips.

You didn't say which engine, but here is my '02 V-10 with a Flowmaster 40, single in (stock 3"), dual out (2.5") ending at two 24" x 3.5" tips.

Sounds great to me, but might not suit everyone.

Ok since you have the 5.4 I would go with a straight thru Magnaflow. The only reason guys a recomending the FM 50 or 40 is because we have the v10 a whols different sound all together.

I want a 40 series, adn I want to dump it right in front of the rear wheel myself. It is all about personal preference. I prefer a louder exhaust.
