Bolt help needed
Anyone know the size of the bolts that screw in to the rear of the engine (where the bellhousing goes) on a 215 engine? Also, are they fine or coarse thread?
I'm trying to put a 215 that I have on an engine stand and having problems finding the right size bolt. I don't have the bellhousing or any existing bolts from that area.
Thanks, Ilya

They are most likey 5/16 bolts and definitely a fine thread (5/16-24).

Sorry, Randy, but you are great on the 351 blocks. On my 223 the bolts are 7/16. You are still my hero too.

From the Ford Parts and Accessories catalog, for a 215, after 1953, the "clutch housing to cylinder block" bolt is listed as a 7/16"-14 x 3" hex head, part number 20554-S8. There should be four of them.

14 thread count seems awfully coarse. On my 48 seems like everything is 24 thread count.

The Parts&Accessories catalogs are like an assembly manual for these trucks and should be the gospel for details like that...so...was I looking at the wrong bolt in the manual?
