Waiting on my Centech Harness

After ordering the Painless Wiring 70's Ford truck kit from Summit, and having the ship date push out 2 months in a row, I cancelled the order and went with the suggestion of others on here and gave Centech Wiring a call.

The K40F kit is the part number and is a custom Ford harness. Once on the phone with them, all I had to tell them was what year (77), long bed, regular cab, MSD ignition, Type C steering column connector, and yes that I wanted the optional harness for winshield wipers and the factory plug for the washer pump. The guy said that the washer pump connector is getting to be like gold, and they may not be able to offer it too much longer.

The basic kit comes with an ignition switch, wiper switch, headlight switch, and floor mounted dimmer switch. Since my old dimmer switch works, I may use it as an ignition lockout switch hidden somewhere, we'll see.

They show a 2 week turn around, and I should expect to be contacted in a week or so to finalize the layout and it will be build and sent right out.

If all goes well, it will be waiting for me when I get home from this hitch offshore.

I'll take pictures of the swapout and let everyone know how well it goes.

Total cost is right undr $450. The painless kit was $599.
Thanks for the suggestion to those who turned me onto Centech.

When you gave them the info for your truck would they modify the harness for different components? I also need to look at a complete harness, both from age and butchering and was trying to decide between Painless, Centech and Ron Francis. The RF kit would modify the harness for whatever igniton, gauges or ????? that you had.
Looking forward to your pictures and hearing about the quality of the harness.

They asked if I had an idiot light, or a real ammeter, that was about it for gauge cluster.

Go to Centechwire.com, or give them a call. Avoid the Painless kit like the plague. I did try to order one of the first ones, but I think they were rushing it to market and trying to engineer it as they built it.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll give Centech a call and post what the reply was.

That was me

and You're Welcome

I had heard on a few occasions they were great to deal with and the quailty of the product was way above the Painful system.

You can thank FTE for having this forum available to people to allow for the sharing of Info like this

The Gauge Cluster is an 18 pin connection.

The Idiot Light cluster is a 14 pin connection.

Major difference for something very important to know.

I spoke with Jim at Centech and he said they can pretty much custom make to whatever your needs. Talk to them about what components you have that are not stock and the harness will be made to your spec's (within reason). Plus the intial advantage of them having the right connectors for stock components.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I installed a Centech kit last year....Outstanding quality and probably in the top 5% out of everyone I've dealt with on parts for my truck..Excellent descriptions, instructions and great quality.....Would recommend to anyone. One of the few things thats been well worth the money.
