Could someone tell me what that piece is with the vaccum hoses coming off of it is. I think it is just something to do with emmisions control so i unhooked it and just ran a line from the carb to dizzy, but id like to know what it is.

My first guess is something to do with air temperature. Like if it reads that it's cold, then it adjust amount of vacuum to dizzy, and visa versa.
Apparently it was some engineers brainstorm, but I'm sure your motor can live without it.
