my problem is the speedometer cable that I have for the 203 has a diffrent end on it than my dash. the one that matches the truck dash is not long enough to reach the 203 so I cant use it.
my questions...
was there a 67-72 dash/speedo that had the slip on style atatchment like the newer trucks instead of the screw on kind? anyone else run into this problem?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-14-03 AT 11:02 AM (EST)]Just buy the one for the 76 and change the end on the cable. Thats what i did on my 78 chasis under my 72, and its worked just fine. I dont remember whether i glued it or what, its been a couple years. If you need me to, i can look at mine when i get home.

To my knowledge, there was no stock cable that works, but I recall this coming up here before. The answer given was that there are several companies ou there that can make up a custom cable for this type application. You might want to do an internet search on speedo cables.
Billy,I swapped in an NP 205 trans case marrried to the NP 435 tranny and ran into the same problem. I bought a speedo cable for a 79 F-150 4x4 that works fine, it doesn't thread on, it is a slip on and has not come off yet.Make sure the cable is secured just inside the firewall on the engine side and it can't slide back off of the instrument panel.
