My siphon pipe has a hole, or has corroded and dropped off, at about the 8-gal "used" point after I fill my tank.
Looking at the top of the tank where the siphon tube feed line screws in/on, is it possible to remove/replace the part of the tube inside the tank, or is it brazed in place? Just thinking it would be handy to replace or fix the tube, since replacement tanks here in the Northeast (that won't have a similar problem) are non-existent without buying a whole donor carcass.
You can remove the tube. A new one isn't hard to fabricate.
Take the empty tank to a radiator shop (call ahead to see if they offer the service) and have them boil it out. They should be bale to unsolder/brake the tube out and install a new one for you. It's shouldn't cost any more than $30/$40 bucks.
