oil pressure
I have a 85 ford 6.9 turbo diesel. When the motor is warm the oil pressure is about 15 p.s.i. at an idle. Is that good or bad? I recently had another truck with the 6.9 diesel but it wasn't turbo. It had a higher oil pressure at an idle.

put a mechanical guage on it and be sure what the pressure is. The factory guages are worth about 1.50. The sending units are not worth much more. The 6.9 are a low pressure engine but high volume. To be sure, get mechanical guages.

I do have a mechanical gauge installed on the truck. Thats how I determined the 15 p.s.i. The original truck gauge at an idle bottoms out.I just wanted to make sure thats a good pressure for my motor.
