4x4 Conversion from Reg Cab to Crew Cab

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-16-03 AT 10:27 AM (EST)]Hey guys, I found a regular cab 71 Ford that has a 360 in it and 4x4 but the body is shot on it, rusted right through. However, I may be able to get this truck for next to nothing and I was wondering what it would take to convery my 70 Crew Cab from 2x4 to 4x4 and if this would switch over and do the job.

Thanks

Matt

4x4 Conversion from Reg Cab to Crew Cab

These conversions have been covered in depth, and if the search feature was up, you could easily find them. It can be done like that, but i think the consensus was that it is easier to move sheetmetal than 4x4 parts. You can have your frame extended and reinforced easier than trying to bolt on the 4x4 components.
Annother option may be to cut both frames and move the 4x4 front over and weld it to the 2x4 rear. Then there will only be one weld per side instead of two. That depends on whether they are both the same width.
If one is a 1/2 ton and the other a 3/4 ton the frames may be different widths and heights as well.

Look through the past posts at what others have done.
