I have an 04 EB Expedition and cruise control is not working. I have gone through the owners manual and checked all the fuses. The only thing I haven't checked was Relay 302 (the manual states this is only dealer servicable). What is the reasoning behind being only dealer servicable and can anyone help me with the location of this relay? What other problems could my cruise control be having? Thanks.
This may seem like a silly question, but were you affected by the recent recall for cruise control switches? Your dealer may have inadvertantly disconnected your cruise control switch. I don't believe '04 were affected, but it's worth a shot. Could be as simple as having the switch reconnected if your not affected.
I thought about that after I posted and searched. I'll have to wait until the wife gets home. Hopefully it is that simple. I don't believe the 04's were supposed to be affected by the recall, but that doesn't mean it didn't get unplugged by a worried owner. I'll see what I find.
Any luck with that cruise problem? I just got an 03 expy w/ 32k on it and recently noticed the same problem. Checked fuses to no avail. Sure would be nice to know where to go next. Thx for any input
No luck yet...I haven't really put much effort into it as my wife drives it in town everyday and limits my time with the vehicle. I just made another post yesterday asking if anyone knew where I could get a wiring diagram. My ebay CD ended up being a bust...not sure I'll travel that route again.
Not sure if this applies or not, but I had a Windstar that the cruise quit working on, also the brake lights would stay on as well. Turned out it was the brake switch down by the peddle, it went bad and was telling the cruise control that the brakes were being engaged, thus turning the cruise control off. Was a very fast, cheap fix. Might be worth looking into.

I appreciate it, but I already checked that. That was the first thing actually,lol...I was hoping it would be that easy too.
As soon as the wife leaves it with me for a day I'll check it out. Until then...
Going on another big trip and decided to dive into the cruise control again. After going through my www.alldata.com tests and feeling like I had it narrowed down the the steering wheel buttons, I decided to give it a shot.
I pulled the air bag and removed the buttons. I didn't find and real obvious signs damage so I decided pull the button assembly apart. I cleaned all the contacts on the circuit board and put it back together. It partly works now. The ON and SET buttons work, but the RESUME and OFF still don't. It's good enough for this trip and confirmed that it was the buttons.
If anyone does not have a subscription to Alldata I would suggest it. It is basically a shop manual online. When I get back in town I will order up new buttons and it should be good to go.
