head work?

fro those of you that followed my other posts you know the cam and valves spring and timing set deal. (comp 265deh with matched valve springs and magum timing set) how will my stock heads work with this?

what can be done to improve them without breaking the bank?

thanks again fellas this ? has bothered me for some time.

Once again, I think Dan is probably the guy to answer this one, since he is constantly plugging the different numbers into his DD. I have been following your other posts, and I think you will be fine by just milling the heads enough to true them, and maybe having the exhaust side ported by someone who knows these heads. Otherwise, the flat tops from TMI should put you right where you should be with your CR. If this puts you higher than where you should be, Tim can machine the pistons to get the desired CR before he ships them to you.

you should familiarize yourself with Bubba's site,

"Stock intake valve springs go solid (coil bind) at 0.490" valve lift. The stock springs on early non-rotating exhaust valves allow the same lift as the stock intake valve springs, but the springs on the later rotating exhaust valves go solid at just 0.480" valve lift. That is less lift than many popular performance cams provide, even the milder ones like the Edelbrock #2172 (0.484/0.510 gross lift) and the Comp Cams 255DEH (0.469/0.505 gross lift). Using the stock rotating exhaust valve springs and retainers with either of those cams will cause bent push rods." from...

Assuming you use as you mentioned the appropriate matched springs for your cam then you should see a significant power increase. I'll let Dyno Dan do the actual numbers.

If you have the correct tools, i.e. a die grinder, carbide bits and an inexpensive porting kit with rolls, discs & mandrels you could significantly increase the breathing ability of the heads and therefore the power increase. Also keep in mind that a good valve job is one of the key ingredients to making the heads more efficient. Make sure you have a machinist you trust and talk to him about how to improve the flow characteristics.
