THere is a technique out there that is similar to painting and it will leave a surface looking like it was chromed. It basically is a silver spraying technique. It is used to make mirrors etc. Since silver looks like chrome, everything you do this way does too. It is not cheap, as it takes special spraying equipement to apply it. I have considered buying into it myself, just haven't yet.
Do you have a link on that product? I'd like to take a look at it. I have my doubts that any paint process could replicate chrome to my satisfaction but that would be great.
I think my doubts stem from my purchase of "Stainless Steel Paint" advertised as "sray it on, looks just like chrome" from JCWhitney when I was about 13 years old. Of course the hood ornament on my 37 coupe didn't look anything like chrome - LOL.

Don't waste you money on Krylon chrome paint either, it just looks silver...I wemt to a hobby shop and they have some stuff the guy swears is the only paint that looks like chrome, but you have to put it on with an airbrush. I may got get it and give it a shot (so to speak)
what I am talking about is not paint, only that is sprayed. It is silver! As in gold and silver?? It shines like chrome, ever seem buffed silver? I will dig up the link.
ichecked it out. Looks like that would look great, but thats a little too expensive for my budget. I'll probably just use the chrome color spray paint.
I looked at it as well - for just a tad more than that price I could buy one of the reproduction bezels on ebay. It looks neat and all, but I wonder if I could get it re-chromed for less - at that price, I'd certainly check.
There was a similar thread some time ago (maybe six months or so)talking about restoring a dash bezel. Someone mentioned a company in the Dallas area that specializes in the restore, said they do the whole thing for around $125 and that it looks as good as new. Maybe someone can find that thread and it will provide valuable info.
>anyone checked it out?
All I can think cha-ching! Initial investment of $500.00 and you could start a business! Now I just need to figure out how to get the $500.00!!!

Guys think bigger!! You wouldn't spen $200 for the beginers kits to restore one dash bezel. But think of all the things you could do? I guess if you only have one vehicle to consider work for, then yesy it's a lot, But if you have many cars etc, this would pay for itself. That being said, I haven't tried it yet, but I'm leaning........
Thanks for the link. It does appear much better than the systems I've seen in the past. One issue I'm thinking of is the removal of the old chrome. Maybe that's not needed.
In any event it will actually cost you $202.27 for the starter kit with shipping. As I recall the price for a dash panel if sent out is about $75.00. I think the starter kit would do a bunch of dashes considering you wouldn't have to spray the entire thing (if it actually works). You could actually mask off the painted areas and just do the chromes areas. I will take pictures of the process and let everyone know how it works. Mine should arrive in a few days.
