FE motor knock
I have an 1970 F-250 camper special, with a 360. When I reach 45-50mph I hear a knock. The knock is only there at cruse. If I give it gas or let off, it goes away. The knock is heavier than a valvetrain noise, and lighter than a rod knock. And it seems to only happen when the engine is warmed up. Actually it sounds alot like a diesel.
Also the truck has front disc brakes. I've been told by the past owner that the truck came that way stock. It was my understanding that ford did not put disc on their trucks until '72 for the F-100,F-150 and '73 for the F-250,F-350,and later for the 4X4's.
Any ideas gentlemen?

No ideas about the knock...just too hard to speculate.
About the brakes, 1968 was the first year Ford offered the discs on the trucks. They were standard on those with 390's and options on others.

Tim, as soon as the oil gets down a little add some Marvals Mystery oil in it, or change it and include a qt. in place of 1 of the motor oils. It is in a red can. You may either have a lifter starting to stick, or BFH "big Ford hammer" G version, = a wrist pin slapping. My red truck is aflicted with the latter, annoing as hell, but still runs great.

Iwas going to say the same as my man before me, wrist pins, ford's are known for the wrist pins, It'll run for ever but i would pull it out and redo her wile the gettin is good. If it blow's you'll spend more money than pulling it now,if you have the time to do it , good luck.
