ok,i have all the wireing and wut ever almost done on my ignition from an 83 150,i have no clue wut wire to hook the red wire from the modual up to , and another theng is for some reason there seems to be no spark goin past the coil as far as i can tell, plaes help me
the white wire is hot from the battery....your red one goes to the ballast resistor which is your switched hot, green goes the Neg side of the coil....
I must respectfully disagree with 1972FordCustom on a few details.
The drawing is not clear, due to the "Visit Ford-trucks.com" logo.
White: This is hot during the Start circuit. It retards the timing to allow for easier starting - or so I have read. I hooked this one up to the small Start post on the starter solenoid. (On the backside, on the side where the juice goes to the starter. NOT the wire from the ignition switch which is on the battery side of the solenoid.)
Red: Hot during the Run circuit. It by-passes the resistor circuit to send a full 12V to the brainbox module. I hooked this one up to the wire for the electric choke.
The only other wire you need to hook up is the BAT wire to the coil. This one is really easy. Simply take the original wire on the truck which went to the BAT post on the original points coil, and splice it into the BAT harness wire for the Duraspark system.
The rest of the wires are all included in the donor truck's wiring harness, or should be anyway. 1972FordCustom is correct that the green wire goes to the negative or TACH side of the coil.
If for some reason you don't have the complete wiring harness, you can use any wiring harness and module from any truck with the same module. Of course, the distributors won't interchange between motors, but the harnesses and connectors will interchange.
Good luck!
