I was at the gas station the other day and I heard what can only be explained as an f-16 rolling through the parking lot. If you have ever heard an f-16 idle, you will know what I am talking about. If you hav'nt I will try to describe it. It is an intense whistle along with the deep rumble of the afterburner. It's awsome. The guy was driving an '06 f-350 and I am willing to bet that when he pulls up between a dodge and a chevy at the stoplight, they both crawl into a ball under thier dashboards and start sucking thier thumbs. I looked but couldnt tell what he had done with his exhaust. Whatever it was, I want it. I am aware of the whistle that comes from a lot of modified strokers but this was off the scale. If anyone has heard this or knows what I am talking about, please let me know.
I have a 5" straight pipe exhaust and I dont get that whistle. Could it be something other than exhaust that will change the sound. As in something under the hood?
The 6.0's have a completly different turbo than the 7.3. It's variable vane design allows it to spool quickly at a much lower rpm. The VW TDI's that I work on have the same design just half the size and you can hear them spooling right off of idle.
I wish that I could have on of those on my truck. VERY controllable.
Yeah... i have a neighbor down the road that has an '03 350 with a tuner,4" staight thru exhaust and the 6.0 and it sounds incredible. He says his neighbors don't appreciate it too much. Just like an F-16. I think i would have to get BB unit to get that sound.
