Powerless 351m
My 351m doesn't seem to have much power. It doesn't have the get up and go that I want it to. If anybody has any ideas that don't require a lot of money, let me know. This is one of those project trucks that the wife doesn't really approve of. So, I need to keep it as cheap as I can. You know how that goes.

Advancing your cam one tooth should help some. The 351M has the retarded cam timing set. It's kind of a pain (you'll probably have to drop the oil pan to get the front cover back on).
Outside of that, you're probably stuck. Older 351M's are just not that powerful in their stock configuration.

my 79 was a slug till the exhaust plugged up and blew of. i replaced it with a 3 inch flowmaster 50 series, and a turndown tip. then i had to advance the timing to make the open exhaust work. it will now smoke the 33 inch tires. if i knew all i needed to do was open up the exhaust, i would have done it 25 years ago.
