axel code help

I just picked a 1986 F350 4x4 with a straight dana 60.I would like to know the gear ratio.The axel code is 39. Thanks

you have 3.55's with standard axle (non L/S). Seems a little tall for a 4X4 and odd not to have L/S either

thanks! what a disapointment though,i was hopeing for much lower gears

Gosh, I'm not surprised at all....this tank is a one ton four wheel drive behemoth.....meant to do some serious work!

Serious work is done in lower gears. 3.55's are not low gears for a 4X4 Generally they start at 3.73 and go to anything. Most love the 4.30's or 4.56's.
