I have similar questions. I have looked at many different sites, BOTP, LMC, DC, etc and they don't say if they are interchangeable (regarding different years of the trucks, not Broncos).
I have a 78, but saw a 73-77 at the junkyard with a nice chrome bumper with the horizontal pads and bumper guards. Looking through the catalogs, I can't seem to find any bumpers w/ horizontal pads for sale for anything but 78-79.
Were the bumpers with horizontal pads only for 78-79? If so, it seems like they would fit previous years since I see them on an older truck. However, it is possible that the junkyard truck was a 78-79 but they put on the 73-77 grill. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know because looking in the catalogs doesn't help. I'll try and go back Monday to see if the bumper would fit, but not sure what to look for. Would the bolts be spaced further apart? The bolts on my bumper are about 31.5" apart.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
Oh and sorry to hijack this thread but I thought my questions are relevant enough and I didn't want to make another thread on the subject if I didn't have to.
I found a thread where someone said a 78-79 bumper would fit 73-77 trucks, so I'm guessing the opposite is also true. It's worth a shot because if I remember right, the bumper was in great condition and could look brand new with a little elbow grease.
