tire size?

Hey im new to this board and interested in buying a 2005 ford f-150 fx4. I was wondering if it's possible to get the 2" spacer lift and keep the stock 18" factory wheels? Would this look funny or cause any problems with the ride?

Thankz

You can lift the truck to the sky without a problem. The deal with the 18's rims is they are only 7.5" wide. Right now the biggest tire made that fits theem is a 275/65 x 18 that comes on the Lariat. The problem is rim width..

Personally i don't think that that would make your truck look weird, and would be a good upgrade for bigger tires and wheels in the future. Might be worth saving your pennies and getting a couple tire sizes bigger while retaining the stock rims. Just a thought. Hope this helps. By the way i have a '05 Lariat and i love it, i take it in the dirt quite a lot, and it performs flawlessly. Would highly recomend the limited slip Diff.

I am thinking about upgrading to 18x8.5 wheels and using the stock tires 265/60-18 I think the extra width should help make it look more aggresive. Any thoughts?

I don't know my first thught is it would be fine, but i don't know enough about that aspect. i suppose there might be a chance that the wheels might be too wide since the stock 18's are 18x7.5 at least on my truck. would also be woth using the calculator link i ma including to figure out if the tire height will change since it will affect your spedometer reading. taller tire speedo reads low, shorter tire speedo reads low.

in the left pannel under tiresize. Also have to check and make sure that the tires don't rub either. but that size shouldn't be a problem i would think. I have 275/65 R18's stock and they are fine.

I have 265/60-18s on the truck now I just want to go to a wider wheel. According to BFG my tire size should work with 18x8.5 . Friends are saying to go 20's and I don't feel like spending all that extra dough,I just want the truck to look a little bit more of a muscle look.

That is my tire size. Does that have a 6.25" backspacing?

I've got an 05 4x4 Lariat Screw with a 2.5" front level and a 1.5" add a leaf on the back. Stock tires 275/65/18 and 18" rims. Plan to put on aftermarket 17" rims with 35" tires but for now it is looks fine, just has a little more clearence in the wheel wells.

The little tires would look funny with the leveling kit. You at least need some 325/60R18's (33X12.5). If you kept the stock wheels you could actually fit 35's under there without any rubbing issues, but Ive heard alot of complaints about lack of power with 35's so I only put on 33's.

I dont think it would look "funny" if you leveled out your truck. Bigger tires would fill in the wheel gap and look more beefy IMO.
