engine sales recommendation
Another thought: get a used or rebuilt 4.0 to swap in, it's just about a straight bolt-in replacement for the 2.9. (Unless you have an A4LD automatic tranny which can't hold up to the extra torque of the 4.0 for very long. 4.0 A4ld trannies were slightly beefier.)
Service was fairly fast, engine was reasonably clean and fired right up.
I gave 1800 for mine, 300 core with you footing the return bill.
They will subtract tons for cracked heads, I got 50 back as they said both heads were cracked. I didn't have em checked before sending it back so I don't know if that was a scam or not.
There are lots of outfits offering engines, if yours is a 2.9 there is another company in Washington that offers free shipping and return.
Do a thorough search and you should find plenty of remanufacturers with varying prices. If I was at home I could post some links but no joy on that right now.
PM me if you are interested in some predone research as I think I have some sites bookmarked in my home puter.
Also be prepared to replace all of your sensors just to be sure the new one operates correctly.
Good luck,
Rich
