5.4 not sure

My question is i went to order a 2006 v-10 and they say their out of them for the year and now i'm cosidering the 5.4. i dont really tow anything but i like the power of the v-10 going up hill.
I could wait till may to order one but then theres no rebates and my trade in is worth less than now. so my questions is whether the 5.4 will do it for me or not.
i tried the dealer search and out of 600 dealers there were no V-10 6 speeds.

Out for the year?

Well if that's the case, I wouldn't settle for anything less just because you can't have it now. You know what you want, get it and be happy. This way you don't look back and kick yourself just because you couldn't wait. If you order, it will come in at some point, it's just a matter of when. You also get exactly what you want and you don't have to settle for something else. The engine isn't something you could just change down the road. (unless you have the mechanical prowiss to do it) If you go with the 5.4 and if you don't like it, you're stuck with it for the next little. (Many of the V10 owners here have a saying: "There is no replacement for displacement....") Besides, you'll never know the joys of the BSEG brought on by the power of the V10.

I had a 1984 F350 CC 4x4 with a 351 ( 5.8L ) in it. I thought it would be ok but after owning the truck for awhile, I was disappointed that the truck lacked real power. I promised myself that I would never own another truck that was underpowered. Before I bought my 2005 to replace that truck, I test drove a 2005 F250 CC 4x4 with the 5.4L. This newer truck seemed to move ok but on the highway it also seem to do a bit of shifting as it tried to keep the speed up on the hills. After driving that and remembering my 1984 F350, I bought a 2005 with a 6.0L. This truck most definitely has more than adequate power.

I have always thought that a larger engine should be able to get better gas mileage than a smaller one because the larger engine doesn't need to work as hard to move the vehicle. I would imagine that, given everything else equal, a 5.4L and a V10 would yield similar fuel economy at highway speeds. But, the V10 would have plenty of more power than the 5.4.

My advice is that you should wait and get the engine you want. If you buy the smaller motor, you will probably always wish you bought the bigger engine. Then you will be like I was as I drove around for years in a truck that I felt was underpowered.

Not sure what state you are in but there will be big changes for super duty power plant options depending on where you live. If you live in CA, MA, NY, ME, VT or any other state that uses the california emmission standards the V10 will not be availible and the 5.4 will be limited aval. in f-250 and F-350's are bit more confusing with GVW packages. V8's and V10 will be late avail (july) for auto and lower gvw.

If you live in one of these states. BUY NOW!
