I've moved shopping carts with my Ranger. If you're gentle, they won't hurt the chrome bumpers any (not that my bumpers are good enough to care about anyway...)
I try to put the carts back in the corals, and I'll even grab the extra ones that are near it and shove them in to. (I have to wonder about people who are willing to push the cart to the coral, but not into it.
I also tend to park nearer the back of the lot. Not only does it protect my vehicle from carts and door dings, it leaves the spots near the door for those who have difficulty walking. (Even at 80, my grandfather would park near the back of the lot, to leave the spots near the doors "for the old people.")
I always leave my cart in a safe place, can't stand the lazy ..... people that leave them in the way, etc. As for worrying about my truck? Nope, there's a reason I a have a grille guard...
