Your best bet is always the frame if you can get to it. You can loop the strap over the frame and run the long end through the loop on the short end (like a slip-knot). If you don't have a strap with looped ends, get one. The ones with the built in hooks kinda suck for anything bigger than an ATV in my opinion.

If its nothing to to bad (as far as beeing stuck) you can use the bumper, as normally they're reinforced fairly good, but i wouldn't trust it with a stuck over the axles stuck though.

Hi, your best bet is to get a hitch put on or put it on yourself. I just did mine. $150 and about 30 minutes does the job. Not hard at all. You might force the bumper up by pulling under it and that might do some body damage. And KJKozk2 is right about straps with hooks on the ends. NEVER use one on a stuck truck! If the hook or strap brakes it turns into a big rubberband and comes back at you or who ever you are hooked too. I have seen them go through the truck windows. Erv

or the grill, radiator, tear up body panels on both the truck and anyone stupid enough to stand too close (you don't want to see the mess from a body bieng hit with a broken cable that is bieng used on a winch to pull a truck out, but I will say this the guy will never get stuck again.)
