Question radious arm bracket.

hello all ranger fans! i just came back from the salvage yard with a replacement radious arm bracket. (last one they had too.. they are on a crushing spree and just a hand full of 80s rangers left ) any who, obviously i can not resuse the rivots lol so bolts are going back in. im thinking grade 5 should be sufficiant. i was wondering how much torque i should put on them.

Fastener preload, and thus applied torque, will depend on the fastener diameter.

Mine was worn out on my 94 and it was part of a cross member I was looking a salvagge yard for one, checked with ford they had it & it was $25.00 NEW!

I just used hardened bolts & Lock washers & tightend as tight as I could get

I would spring for at least grade 8 bolts and would use grade 12 if I could find them. And cowboybillie is right torque depends on size. grade 8 3/8 " is 45 ft lbs. grade 8 7/16' is 70 ft lbs. grade 8 1/2" 110 ft lbs grade 8 9/16" is 150 ft lbs. these are listing for standard thread bolts. Fine thread bolts have a dry torque value about 10% higher

If you have a farm and ranch store handy they usually sell bolts by the lb instead of the piece and that makes them a lot cheaper.

It's where the radius arm attaches to the frame. The bracket is normally riveted to the frame. Part #3 in the below diagram is the radius arm, part #5 is the radius arm bracket.
