Engine Block Heater
Does anyone have any advice about block heaters for a 2001 5.4L? I've seen 3 types including the dip stick, in-line heater hose and the freeze plug type but don't have a lot of experience with any of them. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm not sure about the 2001, but on my 97 there was a factory block heater option installed. It looks kind of like one of those single coffee cup heaters and it fits in one of the freeze plug holes in the driver's side of the block. It used to be about $80 for the kit. I know because I had to replace mine a while back due to a leak. It's a clean installation with the plug cord coming out the front bumper.
