Hey guys,
Hope everyone is doing great.
I gotta question, What is the best way to hook up a cb in these trucks.
Ive tried a few different ways and i either get engine noise or i cant get anything out of the cb at all.
Any ideas would be great, thanks guys.
If there is a different forum or thread anyone knows of that would be great too.
Thankx again

i to just put in a CB in my truck. its a Cobra 40-Channel NightWatch CB Radio with SoundTracker. it cuts out alot of the engine noise from the factory but i still get some when i run my motor or heat or AC fans. the way i hooked mine up was to the battery. i got some extra wire and ran it threw the fire wall right to the battery. if you go look behind the engine there should be a black cap on teh fire wall and if you pop that off there is your hole to run the wires into you cab. its right behind the right valve cover. cant miss it. thats how i would do it. it cut the noise out on mine by 30% i would say. before i had it to my battery i had it in the power outlet. lots of noise pick up! hope this helps Mitch
I would hook it up to a keyed fuse under the dash, keeps wires out of the engine compartment, and shuts it off when truck is off. What kind of antanna are you using?
Thanks guys.
Mitch thats where i got all my noise from. But thank you
Nuge i have not tried the fuse, and im running 3' firestik mounted to my tool box
If you are still getting noise threw the battery then there is nothing that you can do. i read in the directions and on the net that the battery is the best place for noise reduction. the only other thing i can think of that would help is a noise filter thingy. i think you can get hte from radio shack or walmart or places like that.
I have mine grounded on the battery negetive and tapped into the accessory power in the fuse panel. Haven't had any problem with interferance. You could also try putting a ferrite bead on the power side to filter out some of the interference.
