2002 F250 Won't come out of park! Found brake switch fuse blown repaced and blew again. Any body know what this would be? Pulled the brake switch and opened it up, it looks fine not much to it.
The fact that you did not get any responses kind of indicates that no one that frequents the Super Duty section of this site has ran into the same problem. For as many different people & problems that run through here, there is always a first time for EVERY issue.
While we may not have been able to help you, it would be nice to learn what was the cause of your problems so that we, as a community, can throw that out as a possible cause/fix for the next person that experiences a similar problem.
I had the same problem, same year truck! First off, check out this old post of mine: Truck Stuck In Park!
The culprit was the cruise control switch at the end of the master cylinder, it had a slow leak at the fitting, and brake fluid leaked into the connector shorting the switch out. This caused the cruise control to stop working, brake fuse to blow repeatedly, and caused a small underhood fire.
Check out this post of mine too, it's #6 down on the page: F450 Cruise Control - contains pics of the connector.
Unfortunately, this is a pretty common problem on Fords, this is also semi-related to the huge F-150 recall they had a few months back on the underhood fire issue. Stop by your Ford dealer and they'll have the 'new' harness in stock.
