Does anyone know if a cap that fits a 1978 will fit on a 96?

even if you are matching, say, an eight foot long box from 78 to the same length 96 the width is different.

call up any topper sales shop and you will find out for sure that they do not match.

For info, I have a fiberglass cap that has been on an 82, an 88 and now on 95 short bed with no changes. Don't know about pre 80's though.
