ABS / speedo help
I have 99 F350 fwd psd 190 K on it . The ABS light stays on and the speedometer does not read till it hits 40 mph. This all happened on the same day. Is this a coincidence or are they connected. I have cleaned the wire connection at the trans for the Speedo and at the rear for the ABS. My friend checked for any codes nun were found. I disconnected the batteries to re set the computer but both still do not work . I checked all the fuse and they are good one is for ABS and speed control which makes me think the problem is related. Any help would be of great or its going to be a trip to Ford and my pants being pulled down when I get the bill. Thanks for any help .

Id check the rear VSS/ABS sensor first, and just go ahead and replace it. Usually these fail and cause of few problems, 2 of which you have described. The part is only 30 bucks, and takes 5 minutes to change. There was a recent post on here about how if you have 4 wheel ABS the front speed sensors will run the speedometer. Do you have 4 wheel ABS?

Word of caution! ,clean all dirt around the area before removing sensor.you want no dirt or debris to fall in your rear diff.
If when you remove the sensor and it is covered in metalic particles ,think about a fluid change inside soon.
