I believe this catagory is a little too far down. With over 18,000 threads in GNA, nestled between Performance, Engines and Troubleshooting and Misc. might have been a better fit. JMO.

Yeah, yeah, yeah....we know, Ken...you can never please everybody.

"Stuff Actualises"

It may in fact be a great move. The general forum still managed to field it's share of:

"HELP! My 19etc... truck won't run!" even though the rules were posted right at the start.

The die-hards will still know where to go to carp and giggle, but the meat and potatoes is at the very top now!

It's a "REFOCUS"

You're probably right. But I also believe that these nine catagories are the 'open arms" of the community here at FTE....the "Hello", the "I got an automotive problem and need some help", the "I gotta rant so please listen".............family, as Mudder put it.

It knocked me for a loop from the no warning of the change. I thought my subscription ran out or something. I don't mind change as long as I know ahead of the time it's going to happen.

So after most of the day I finally figure out that the forums are still actually here, and didn't vanish into cyberspace.

The first two threads I spot on the forum page are:

"Disappointing Power in 5.4....."

and

"Power steering, or lack thereof, in a SD..."

[sarcasm font]Nice. Good first impression.[/sarcasm]

Sorry for the dripping sarcasm- it's been a long, hard day at the office, and sitting down with FTE is my equivalent of going down to the local tavern and visiting with my buddies in the old days. When the furniture gets re-arranged, it's bound to make some of the clientele cranky.

edit: I see where the new user introduction place is moved, the average new member should have at least 100 posts behind them before they figure out where it is.

FTE is moreso a Ford Truck Site than a General conversation site.

Just so we're clear, Dennis- I do believe it was your idea- and I do believe you like it.

Sheesh. So this is where the forum went. A few minutes ago, I was here and went off somewhere else. Came back and "what happened?"

Ok, I will adapt and overcome.

I don't like the change. I got used to the old way, and found it to be easy to use. I like starting out in the non-automotive section. Sorry, but this does not work.

The only one that needs moving now it the GAD forum to just under the Garage/Workshop forum and just above the Ford vs Competition forum.

The one thing about change is..... down the road sometime it becomes the norm.

Why is this a deal to some people? Wow.. having to scroll down a little farther on a page.. big deal. This is a TRUCK site, shouldn't they come first?

I personally think it is a GREAT idea.

And if you ever come on and something is different (or missing) check out the SITE ANNOUNCMENTS forum. It is ALWAYS posted there. That is why they have that section.
