Plastic cover? Where is that? Does that void the warranty to tamper with it?
Naah, seriously, my '05 cranks a couple of seconds before firing, whereas my old '99 2 valver fired immediately. Just the nature of the 3 valve beast,. Maybe Kewat is right about the throttle positioning sensor not activating, I don't know, but I've gotten sort a used to it now, but I'd much rather have a stainless steel cable controlling the throttle on that 3 valver instead of that electronic TPS-B.S.
Guy my thoughts are if you wish to listen to empty trash cans are.
There are redundant chks the pcm goes through prior to starting these beasts now!
one would be the go pedal fly by wire chk, second cycle of the crank position sensor and the throttle stepper motor.
Other than these milli second chks!
The beast lives under the hood sleeping till we disturb it
dam it

You rosin up your footfeed and shift your gears real hard
'Cause hell's broke loose in Texas and the buzztails deal the cards
And if you win you get a shiny "3V" made of gold
But if you lose the buzztails get your so-o-o-o-oul. LOL!
Holdit For A Count Of 2seconds,when I Try It A Second Time It Starts Real Quick.no It Does Not Sutter Or Miss.

So...what you are saying is that it is taking "2" tries to get your V10 started? The first time is about 2 seconds. The second time it starts right up.
TESTS:
"What if"...you just keep on the key (1 try only)...and will it start eventually? Try it...and let us know how long it took?
Another test: Before trying to start the V10...just turn the key on...wait 10 seconds...and try to start. What happens? Did it start faster?
See...a first generation throttle-by-wire gremlin. If that is what it is. I somehow think it is the new head design and the placement of the spark plug. I wonder if the 5.4L 3V are having the same issue???

My '05 F-250 w/5.4 3V seems to take a split second longer to start than my Dad's '00 F-250 w/ 5.4l... hasn't bothered me enough to try any other starting methods though.
Turned key on counted to 10.didnt start the first time i hit it,second time it fired up.that motor sounds like it has mean intentions,i dont think my 8000 lb. 5er is going to have a chance at slowing it down.
There is a delay on the ignition but mine is still real quick to fire, I guestimat less then 1.5 revolutions... my 2001 2v v10 seemed just a tic quicker to fire but I must say that in the 18 months I have had the 3v V10 with electronic throttle I never had a very cold or very hot start that was not normal. Every single start was/is real quick.
Because there are known issues with the some of the "early" foot throttle sending unit and or the throttle position sensor (TPS) I would have it checked out.
