Larger replacement gas tank

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find my answer when searching the archives.

I have a 1999 Explorer Sport (2 door) that only has the 17 gallon gas tank.

Does anyone know of a larger replacement gas tank? I'm looking for a 28 or 30 gallon gas tank that will fit where my existing tank is.

If anyone has a website or info on putting in a larger gas tank in a Sport, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Still nothing??.....nobody has any suggestions??

Perhaps people here could answer two different questions:

(1) Does anyone else own an Explorer Sport and they wish they could have a bigger gas tank?

(2) Has anyone on this forum done any research into seeing if its possible to get a bigger gas tank on a Sport?

It is actually the first time I can remember that this idea has come up. I am sure there is some type of tank that would work, but I do not know of any that are made for Explorers - Sport or 4 door. I would imagine to get a tank the size you are considering, you would have to drop the spare tire and use some of that space for the tank. Probably the best thing to do is get underneath your Sport and measure how much room you have. Then look at a few different places to see what they have that would fit in that space.

It's not really a bad idea.
