Trouble towing

I have a 2003 F350, 6l TD, crew cab FX4 Trailer package, after driving accross canada with a 22ft, enclosed trailer, i put a Honda civic and a couple hundred pounds of misc stuff in the trailer, and the truck doesn't want to tow it... It's fine until it hits a hill, then i drop down to 50-60kms/hr, from 100. All together it can't be more than 5-6000 lbs total.. Has anyone experianced a similar problem? BTW, the truck runs perfectly minus the trailer? ANy help would be appreciated, i have to get my stuff back to the alberta from NS, and right now i'm screwed.

Fuel and air filters ok? Water in fuel? Catalyst plugged? Overheating? How does it run in a lower gear under this load? Give us more!

filters are all good, it's not over heating, all guages are normal...But it downshifts to 2nd, and struggles to make it up the hill.

Are you keeping a eye on your oil level ? Can you hear the turbo spooling up ?
Sounds like a trip to the dealer for this 6.0.should be a pullin machine unless somethings wrong.

Smkey,bring this on down to the 6,0 area.I'll see if I can get it moved for you .

THis sounds like a bad batch of fuel and the filters plugged right up. I had this happen on vacation last summer. I had just changed the fuel filters prior to leaving for 2400 mile vacation towing a 30 ft travel trailer. On the way back I noticed a large drop in HP. Overnight at a campground I changed the filter which had only 1800 miles on it and it was completely plugged. It was a wonder it even ran. But it ran fine solo (very little HP required)

Sounds like BigRed is on to something with the Bad fuel. I change filters and see if it helps. You said gauges are normal Does this include the boost?

SO i changed my fuel filters, and it seemed to work better for a few hours, now it's working like ****. It barely idles, it bogs out at WOT, has no power at all. I"ve got an appt at the dealer tomm morning, but i'd like to know what to expect. The tech over the phone said it's probably the turbo, and that it may not be covered under warranty (112xxx Kms). I'm terrified that this is going to cost me out the ***.

I would do some web surfing and find out what the typical failure modes are for that engine. From what I've read, the turbo could be suspect. If the work is not covered under warranty, you might look for an upgraded/aftermarket turbo (if such exist) instead of paying the Ford labor rate for another Ford turbo. Know your options (some of them) before the dealer has you in his grip. There should be plenty of 6.0 sites/info to help you.

If it got better with filter change and went to crap again I would look at the fuel as being bad. How did the filters look when you changed them? Did you see any alge ?

I still think it is really bad fuel and a lot of bad stuff in the fuel plugging filter quickly. I would get the tank sampled before going to the extreme.

Filters were pretty dirty, and the smaller one was partly collapsed..I have spoken to a few people that said the station i fueled up at has a reputation for bad fuel, so i'm thinking that may be a problem, or maybe it coudl be an injector..It's just strange to me how there is no smoke or change in smell, no codes, no lights, guages are all good. I"m stumped.. Either way i'll keep u guys updated when i hear from the dealer tomm.;

Plugged filters will starve the engine to a stop. If you had one of the filters partically collapsed then there was a LOT of suction on the filter. Probably what will be needed sadly to say is to remove the fuel tank and have it cleaned.
