7.3 auto tranny
Well last weekend a solex shift kit was installed in the 4R100. Along with a new fiter and fluid. Now the tranny is done. I was towing another pickup when it let go. I lost the final lock-up on the convertor with the OD off. I was close to home so after we got it all unloaded and I parked the trailer, reverse is on its way out also.
Thinking of getting a Jasper replacement.
Any thoughts?

The new fluid probably did it. especially if it hadn't had a flush yet. the detergent eats up all the seals on a corroded tranny. I hav'nt heard of jasper. Have you thought of having a torque shift reinstalled?? I heard someone was making an adapt kit including the electronics to make it work. Thats what i would like to do if (when) mine goes.

Well the old fluid was not burnt or discolered and the pan was clean except what was on the magnet. I did find a few slivers of metal that had to of come from someplace. The PO had kept up the truck very well. I should add there are 80,000 miles on the truck.
Have not thought of a torque shift but might if I knew waht was involved. Of course I need the truck sooner than later too!

do you remember where you saw that kit. i would be interested in installing a new torqueshift in mine i dont know how much different they are

i think you are mistaken for someone making the necessary machining work to allow a 5r110 (torqueshift) torque converter to be used on a 4r100 transmission. for replacement transmissions, i would recommend BTS, along with many others here. www.brianstruckshop.com

you may be correct strokin, i mentioned the swap cause i heard a vague reference to there actually being a conversion kit from a ford guy down here in tx. I don't have any references to refer anyone to, but i thought it would be worth checking out. What does the torque shift converter do for the 4r100 tranny??
