460 oil pump prob?

Lost oil pressure, ticking clacking and all that, replaced oil pump, still does same thing. Is there a pressure reducing valve or something that could be stickking. 97 f-250. Thanks

the preasure valve is internal in the pump. when you changed the pump did you look at or replace teh drive shaft to make sure it's not stripped, and check the dist shaft to make sure of the same thing.

Yeah the drive shaft is good, the dist end is good, maybe there's blockage somewhere? I cleaned the pick up tube and screen good, the truck has high miles but everything was in really good shape, no sludge. It runs on natural gas 80% of the time. Anyway I'm stumped, I primed the pump, kept everything clean, used good gaskets, and nothing. I guess I may have to drop the pan and try again.

Ok one thing I didn't think of and should have (brain fart) are you sure your losing oil preasure, when you primed it did you meet resistance on the pump or did it continue to just spin freely? And do you have a mechanical preasure gauge installed if not then get one cause the factory gauges can lie. Now I know you say it's clicking and clacking but just wanting to make sure your not getting any oil preasure. When you changed the pump did you also change the filter? I am not trying to imply stupidity on your part or anything else I am just trying to get all the possibilities eliminated to help ya out and throughing out everything I can think of off the top of my head.

No problem on the stupidity part, I know your trying to help, I appreciate it. I was wondering, it has what looks like a oil cooler? That the filter screws too, I assume it is anyway because the lower rad hose looks like it goes into the same unit. Would there be anything in there that could be blocking flow?
