need help will not start!!!!!!

i bought a wrecked 05 ex. it started and ran fine. but battery was no good. so i took it out and put a difrent one in it. but it was not all the way charged so i put a jump starter on it. it did not start. put a new battery in it. and still will not start. does not go threw its check when you turn the key on???? nothing on dash works exept the radio?

it will turn over but never starts.

i think it is in theft mode or somthing? theft lite blinks all the time?

check all fuzes and all that i can find are good?

when you put the key in and turn it it does not do the system check? the radio is on all the time, the windows will go up and down with teh key out. the dome lights never come on. but whe i pull the 34 fuse they flash on and off?

what did i do to it?

What you probably need to do is reset the PATS or Passive anti-theft system. Here's what you do:

1. Turn the key to the Wait To Start position, but Don't Start it.

2. The light will continue to blink rapidly for about a minute.

3. When the light starts blinking slowly, turn the ignition off, take the key out, and wait 10 seconds.

4. After 10 seconds, put the key back in and turn the key to the first position.

5. The light shouldn't blink at all (should be solid), once the Wait To Start light goes out, you should be able to start it.

I'm not sure whatelse could be the problem, but start there and see if it works.

I have a 98 Explorer Limited that will not start either. The THEFT light blinks fast all the time now and will not stop. What do you suggest now?

Toreador Diesel,

Will this work for programing a key also?

I only have one key, and I would like to program another with out going to the dealer.

Chris, you can buy a key off of ebay or at wally-world and it will work. As far as how to program it, according to the manual, you need the two keys in order to program it, otherwise a trip to the dealer is in order. Some locksmiths; however, can pull the code(s), cut, and even program the key all for a nominal price. It's better than going to the dealership, becuase it costs less and most of the time they can do it on-site.

okay. I will have to do some price shopping, I need to go to the dealer anyway to get the keypad code. maybe if I am lucky they will cut me some slack.
