e4od swap
Hello,
I have an 82 F350 dually with a sick C6. There's probably very little wrong internally, but it won't use first gear except manually. I don't care, I want an overdrive transmission. I have a potential source for a zf5 from a 91 460, but can get an tranny from either a 91 or 92 F350 club wagon. I have not inspected it yet, but they were given to my FD for extrication training, and it's free if I want the engine and trans.
Anyway, I have an 82, without a VSS and with a speedometer cable. Is there a way to address this or is this swap just too complicated? I would really prefer the manual, but don't really care. My diesel has a manual, and that's the one I drive. What about the wiring and computer? Are these easy to grab?
What else am I not thinking of? The driveshaft welding is no issue, and if that club wagon has a 351 or 300-6, I can make an adapter to mount it, but if it's going to take a lot of work, the zf5 may end up being cheaper.
Thanks,
Mike
