HI All, I have a 1982 f-150, that I am putting on a 1984 f-350 460, auto 4x4 frame. With this change, I have been adding factory options and have been fighting with harnesses from different years. I have basicly up graded to a 1986 dash / main harness, and the 84 duel tank 460 frame harness. Now hear is the question. On the drivers side, under the master cyl. the main harness exits the cab and enters the engine compartment. There is a round plug with 4 wires that I can not figure out its reason. Looking at the plug head on, the connector is round with tabs sticking out the sides, and one 90 deg. up. There is 4 horizontal wires (starting at the upper left).
Red......... Yellow/ Blue
Natural/ Yellow...... Brown/ Blue or White
Is there any standards that the wire colors go by. If I know the color meanings, I can find out where they come from.
The 86 dash/ main harness is from a F-150 XLT, 302 EFI auto, duel tanks.
Any Ideas??
Thanks
Ken

You need to get yourself a wiring diagram for an 1986 truck.
It will give you the informtion you need.
That plug could be anything, for an accessory like fog lamps, or Aux battery, or it could be ignition related. Just spitting out wire colors won't help determine that because several wires are spliced together in a harness and feeds different components with the same wire. A wiring diagram will tell you what components are connected together, and what isn't. etc... That way you can tell what the wire is connected to, and what the plug likely is for. Possibly, but not definately, an accessory your truck does not have, etc...
