I learned something today
I was talking with my local parts store owner, mechanic, & racer. and I was telling him what I did with setting up my timing chain on my 460. I set it 4 degrees advanced of TDC. He said oh you set it like the old Hi Pro 429s. He said when you buy a 429 timing chain you get a 460 chain. That the old 429s were set 4 degrees advanced TDC with an offset keyway. Setting my 460 as I did has made a big performance difference. Just wanted to share what I learned.

well he is partially correct. It's not that the early engines were 4 degress advanced as the later 460s are 4 degrees retarded which is why everyone says to run the early model timing sets which are straight up instead of the later models that were retarded to meet emissions.
