I have a '90 Bronco that I recently purchased and the dome light didn't work inside when the doors open or when the (headlight) **** is turned to the "on" position. Also, the map lights would not work either. I checked the fuse and it seems fine. The lights in the bed of the truck, as well as the door ajar warning beeps, work fine. It's just the overhead lights that do not. So I bought a new dome light, map lights and all, and replaced the entire thing but still it won't work.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or could possibly help me figure out why the overhead lights don't seem to work. Fuse and bulbs are fine, new in fact, so I doubt that is the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

(I did do several searches on this topic first, btw, but none seemed to match exactly. Most had lights that would not go off. Mine won't come on.)
Pull the dome light ans check with a meter to see that you are getting power to the bulb. If you are then it is the dome light fixture itself. I know that my old 85 used one of the mounting screws as a ground through the contacts for the bulb. If not replaced correctly, then no light. Kind of a pain. If no power, then start tracing back the wiring through the roof panel and start testing at different points to find the break. I would say that it was the door switch , but eveything else seems to respond correctly so I would start at the light housing itself.
