Get one for a 360/390. It will bolt right on and will be the right balance. If possible get one for a diaphram style pressure plate. Clearance gets tight in a 400 bellhousing,and a 11.5" long style won't fit and a 10.5" isn't big enough unless you use a real stronge pressure plate and metalic disc.

Can anyone put up a part number from advanced, auto zone, or napa? I am just wondering if anyone has the number they have used for the swap so I can get one with the correct pressure plate bolt pattern and tooth count. Thanks, Dave

No, you don't need a 460 bellhousing.
A diaphram pressure plate are the ones with multiple springs for fingers like are commonly used on Chevy's. They are thinner and work better with a 400 bellhousing.
