What would be cheaper, to buy a decked out 79 f150 4x4 with all options or make one with my 77 2wd that already has some money into it (stereo, carpet, tires, lights, radiator) and my dad was first owner so i know the history
friends dont let
friends drive chevys
so throw em in back
It is alot of work converting to 4x4, different frame, getting rears, different tranney, and alot of time. If you buy one allready done, It will cost alot initally, but will be a lot less trouble and might cost less in the long run and you could sell your 2wd.
Chris I agree with Bill. A lot depends on the challenge, some people just gotta do it. It would be a lot of hard work, but could be fun as well. Could be nice to have both if you gotta have a 4X4.
Hope you make a good decision

In the still cool hours of the night,
you can hear chevys rusting away.
I'm in about the same boat here. But there's nothin to buy around here that good and not 10,000 bucks. So i'm goin' with the convert to 4wd. I got a great body on mine and I found a good framed pickup w/ engine and tranny for 500 bucks.
The easiest way is to probably sell your truck and buy a 4x4.
I have converted a 2 wheel drive into a four wheel drive before,
its a lot of work. If you want to keep your truck why don't you
buy a 4x4 rolling chassis and put your body on the frame.
Let me know if you have any questions.
